Is and does what it’s supposed to.
I wanted an old school glass/mercury thermometer and that is what it is. Was tired of electronic/battery devices that are not consistent on readings, even when done close together. It’s a little difficult to read – just have to twist it until can see the reading. Also have to shake the mercury level down before using. I’m happy with it!

Impossible to read
I have used **many** similar analog thermometers working in science labs, and never seen one anywhere as close to as hard to read as this. Also, for some reason they use mercury, when most modern abog thermometers use colored ethanol – both safer and easier to read.

Slightly inaccurate
I compared these glass mercury thermometers to a known accurate one I have from a USA manufacturer (the white one in my photos). After several side-by-side accuracy tests, these thermometers were slightly low by about 0.2°F and 0.4°F comparitively. The print of these thermometers is a bit inconsistent and difficult to read, but the background color and the mercury line itself is easy to see so the ease of use is mixed. I noticed that the print between the 2 thermometers does not align, so there is either a quality control issue with their calibration or with the print application process. Overall they are still functional and I haven’t had a problem shaking the mercury down like some others users noted.

Accurate
It is always good to have a backup thermometer for when the digital thermometer is not working properly. I was recently ill and I compared them. I found the same temperature on both this thermometer and the digital.

Don’t know what it is about the digital thermometers, but I’ve had an awful time with them going bad.Need something accurate and the old style doesn’t fail.
