Nice set, but s3xist advertising excludes 51% of the market, misleading images
This Ayombo Heavy Duty Pilates Equipment is a nice set. I have other similar sets, and this feels heavy duty, well stitched, and able to hold up to regular use. The best thing about it to me is the fact that the bar can be taken apart for travel or storage and comes with a bag, as my other bars are really difficult to fit into an inconspicuous place, and frequently falling over. By contrast, this set I can take apart quickly, and hang on one of my metal shelving units out of the way. Most importantly, the item does not appear weak at those connection points, so hopefully will last a long time even though it can be split into 3 pieces. I note however that there are many similar sets to choose from – some that look basically identical – and per value, this set costs more than most others I’ve seen. What disappoints me about this item though, is the marketing description and images, all indicating this is a set ONLY FOR MEN. To ensure we got the point, the set is in blue, and shows a man with a dangerously low body fat built like a tank (that he has no chance at all of having developed using only this product). And yet, despite the multiple sets of pilates bands and free weights I own – and the fact that my favorite color is blue – I am female. And no, I’m not a body builder. I’m just a normal female who wants to keep lean muscle and good bone density throughout my lifetime. Like most of the women I know. 51% of the populations in English-speaking countries where this product would be marketed, are female – as in, a MAJORITY. And, a majority of people who search for the word “pilates,” are also female. There is nothing at all about this set that is specific to male needs, or could not be used by women. Most women might not be able to stretch as far with the upper body exercises for full weight resistance, or do as many reps, as their male counterparts. But in many cases their lower body exercises may be able to exceed that of their male friends, and the women’s ability to use to stretch muscles for flexibility, likely would far outpace the men’s. So both men and women could use these an equal amount overall. And women living in the present century do not like being defined by color choices, or excluded from products or general encouragement to be strong.I almost did not order this item, because I thought there was something specific about it for men’s bodies only. Until I realized, it was exactly the same product I already have, except that the bar can be divided into 3 pieces. Had I been paying directly, I would have gone out of my way to avoid buying any product that worked so hard exclude women, when it is clearly a unisx product. Why intentionally exclude eager paying customers? The other sets I’ve bought, did not have this marketing. Hence, I bought them. I hope they will keep the blue color, but lose the gendered advertising, and inherently unhealthy images of severely dehydrated, chemically-altered male bodybuilders. That is unhealthy for all humans to view as an attainable male standard, and it is false to present it as though any man can achieve that body type with this product alone. Honesty in advertising matters. The honest truth is, women can (and do) use this product. And none of us, male or female, is likely to end up looking like the extremely unrealistic photos with the 16-pack and head-sized biceps and triceps at the end of this.

Amazing, easy to get a quick workout done

I ordered this because like so many other office focused individuals, I spend too much time sitting and not enough time working on my health and wellbeing. This set looked good from the marketing photos, except for the stupid “for MEN” title. I guess Pilates equipment is gender specific these days? I don’t understand why something has to be labeled as “for men” in order for people to get the idea that it’s strong and has good resistance levels. The stupid, sexist marketing aside, this set is actually decent.The handles are well padded, there is an ample variety of resistance settings, and it wasn’t too complicated to put together. I actually appreciate that it comes apart and stores easily, as my workout space is also used for guests when we have them over.I was able to get a decent workout with this setup, enough to leave me remembering that I actually have abs and glutes. It isn’t the most comprehensive workout on the planet, but for the cost it’s a good value. I would likely purchase this set again. I would be MORE likely to purchase if they changed their marketing to acknowledge that half the population is female.
