Non-intuitive first setup with wicked fast results after
There is a small mini-booklet in the package that explains how to set up the thermometer (arm, mouth, or groin) for the first time. Once this is setup, the thermometer will go through a 10 second self check, zero out the display, and within two seconds this thermometer gives wicked fast, wicked accurate results with an easy to interpret stoplight color lit screen (green, yellow, red). I don’t know why anyone who gets one would buy anything else.

Not a worthy buy!
Disappointed with this thermometer. Upon arrival, it did not work with the battery it came with. I changed the battery and it turned on, but I’m not convinced it worked correctly. Every temperature I took, it registered as 100.2. I used it maybe 5 times before it stopped working completely. It now gives an error message, tries to read a temp, then gives lines on the screen like it can’t read a temp. I was excited to use this due to being able to read a quick temp. Will be going back to other slower thermometers now 🙁

Quick temp read. Arrives with dead battery
I like these thermometers. They are quick and easy. My complaint is they come with dead batteries. Once the battery is changed out they work great. Why even ‘include’ a battery if it’s going to be useless?

Good digital thermometer
We actually use this thermometer for our dog and it seems very accurate. Easy to use and has different functions depending where you want to take the temperature. Screen is bright and easy to read.

Terrible from long-time Vicks user
We have been buying the Vicks thermometer for many years. It’s always our favorite. This one is terrible.This version has 2 buttons as compared to the old version which has only 1 button. The old 1-button version requires no directions. You press the button, it beeps, and you take your temp.The new 2-button version has instructions to explain which button does what. The top button turns it on. The bottom button selects which bodypart to use – head, armpit, butt. The LED displays a person with a dot that quickly cycles through each bodypart. You need to be fast enough to press the large button when the dot is on the bodypart you want to use. If you mistakenly select the wrong bodypart there is no way to correct your choice other than to power it off and on and repeating the ridiculous process. By this time you will have developed a fever due to aggravation.After finally figuring out how to use it, we took the temp 4 times and we got 4 different readings ranging around a half degree.They managed to “upgrade” a perfectly good product with one that is complex and non-intuitive, and inaccurate. I hope they bring back to original 1-button version.

More accurate than others
This is my 6th thermometer because all the ones I buy are inaccurate (reading 97/98s when actual temp is 100.8). This was closest with an armpit temp of 99.8. I will say to take a tushy temp is hard since sometimes it doesn’t read and we have to turn it off and on and start all over which is not fun for our 1 year old.
